The special category status and division promises are continuing to dominate the political strategies in AP. The heat has further gone up after the Pawan Kalyan and Jayaprakash Narayan committees have found fault with the Modi government for not providing necessary funds to the state. Now, AP CM Chandrababu Naidu is putting increased pressure on the BJP state leaders on this aspect.
Naidu demanded that Modi should honour these committees and do justice to the people here. The Pawan party’s committee has concluded the Centre should give Rs. 75,000 crore to AP as per the promises made at the time of separate Telangana formation in 2014. Special assistance to AP was promised as the capital city of Hyderabad along with 90 per cent of the united state’s resources have gone to Telangana.
On its part, the JP committee said the Modi government should immediately sanction Rs. 85,000 crore in order to help AP develop and compete with Telangana and other states. Naidu said these committees consisted of intellectuals and their reports should be implemented by PM Modi without further politicking. Naidu also challenged BJP state leaders to prove their worth by convincing Modi to release necessary funds to AP immediately.
