The next big thing after the assembly elections in five states, is the Presidential election due in July 2017. Several names have surfaced, but if the buzz is to be believed, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Amit Shah are planning to induct L K Advani as the next President.
Relationship between Modi and Advani became sour, especially after the later was dropped from BJP Parliamentary Board. Despite being the senior most member of BJP, the Advani era came to an end when Amit Shah was elected as the BJP President.
The Anti-Modi faction always reaches out to Advani, but once he is made the President, Modi will be able to calm this group. Also, this could be considered as Guru Dakshina from Modi to his political guru Advani. The vision 2022 of Modi can be implemented seamlessly if he becomes the President.
Recently, the Somnath trust meeting was held which was attended by Modi, Amit Shah, Keshubai Patel and Advani. Somnath is the place where Advani started his ambitious rath yatra to Ayodhya with Modi as his charioteer. Advani aimed to become the Prime Minister with this stint. But now the PM will decide the fate of the 89year old.
Advani is the main accused in the Babri Masjid demolition case. He started his political career as a volunteer for the RSS and was also the Deputy PM during Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s regime.
