Rival political parties use Kapu reservations to attack each other as a permanent solution is never being found for decades. TDP did partial justice by giving half of the EWS 10 per cent reservations for Kapu community. But Jagan Reddy government is not implementing it for administrative and political reasons. At this juncture, Senior Kapu caste leader Mudragada Padmanabham has shifted the focus from regional parties and targetted the BJP on the quota issue.
He shot off an open letter to Union Home Minister Amit Shah to immediately approve of the Kapu quota issue which is presently pending before his ministry. This is landing the BJP in a very tough situation. As it is, the BJP has made a Kapu leader its Andhra unit president. The party is trying hard to get support from majority Kapu community in the state in order to emerge an unchallenged political force in the state. At such a time, Mudragada is giving a real challenge to Amit Shah. Analysts and that the defining moment has arrived for BJP to respond carefully and escape safely from this prolonged Kapu quota issue. Or else, its Andhra dream project is sure to hit a road block.
