Protagonist of Kapu quota movement Mudragada Padmanabham said he would sit on indefinite fast in four or five days along with his wife and he would not call off till the aim of movement, BC status to Kapus, was achieved. He also said this was his final battle for the justice to Kapus.
Addressing media on Monday he accused the government of inciting some bad elements to create the violence and added that Government had to take responsibility for yesterday’s violence.
” Government is responsible for the entire chain of events happened yesterday. TDP led these miscreants and I led the Kapu movement.The government resorted to the violence after it failed scuttle the Kapu movement, he alleged.
” For the past one month, since we announced the date of Kapu Ikhya Garjana, government has tried to scuttle the Kapu meeting in every conceivable way. They refused to give permit to the venue and declined to give RTC buses on hire. The CM doesn’t want Kapus organize a meeting. But, he failed. Kapus came to the garjana in lakhs,” he said.
Reiterating his resolve to sit on indefinite fast, he said, arrests and other repressive methods would not stop him from going ahead.
“Our movement is not targeting any party. It’s not to support any party,” he clarified.
“Movement is mine, the miscreants are your(the CM’s) people. Do arrest, but arrest me alone. I am ready. I don’t even apply for bail,” he warned the government.
“My wife will sit on indefinite fast at home. If you arrest her too, she will join me in Jail in fast,” he said.
“Government is conspiring to arrest Kapus. I am ready to go to jail. I will continue my fast in Jail. I am told 144 section has been clamped in the district. why? What for? what harm did the Kapus do? Instead of doing all these, implement the poll promises” he told the CM Chandrababu Naidu.
” If you implement your promise,” Mudragada said, ” We will wash your(Naidu’s feet, at the same place where we organized Ikhya Garjana,” the Kapu leader said.
“I have dedicated my life to my community. I will work for the community.” he said.
He advised his followers hot to stir out of home as the government was planning to arrest them and implicate in false cases. ” Don’t stir out of home. Government is planning to arrest you. Express solidarity by your fast remaining at home. Just sound the lunch plate as a signal to your fast,” he asked them.
Talking about his movement he said he was adopting peaceful method to achieve his goal. Appealing to Kapus not to attack the police he said “police are our people.”
“At attempt is being made to create animosity between the BCs and Kapus. We don’t want to harm the interests of BC. And BCs are not against us. and we are not against BCs. Rumors are being spread that i am sold out. It won’t happen. I will continue to lead the movement till Kapu demand is achieved,” he clarified.
