The ruling TRS has given a rude shock to the Congress party through the merger of Congress Legislature Party by four MLCs with TRS in the council. Telangana Congress President Uttam Kumar Reddy termed this a murder of democracy as the Congress MLCs have no right to conduct the CLP meeting and this has no sanctity at all.
Uttam Kumar along with Congress floor leader in Council Shabbir Ali met with Council Chairman Swamy Goud and submitted their objections to the merger of CLP with the Telangana Rashtra Samithi. It is known four MLCs Akula Lalitha, M.S. Prabhakar, Damodar Reddy and Santosh Kumar have made the representation to the Chairman about their merger decision with the TRS in the Council.
Uttam Kumar pointed out that the Congress has given a representation long back for the cancellation of the membership of MLCs Prabhakar and Damodar Reddy but no action has been taken in this regard till now. The Congress leaders appealed to the Council Chairman to protect the integrity and dignity of the Council by rejecting the merger plea of the four MLCs as it is undemocratic and unlawful.
The Congress is maintaining that there is a court order against the possibility of merger of individual members of a party with another party.
