Speculations over migrations from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) are spreading over Telangana and following Kommuri’s resignation, now, it is turn to Dr. Nagam Janardan Reddy.
Dr. Nagam who said goodbye to his medical practice earlier joined in Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and reached to Number-2 position. He served undivided Andhra Pradesh state as minister. During separate Telangana movement, he quit TDP and launched Telangana Nagara Samithi. Due to no response from public and politicians, he joined in BJP.
Since he joined with BJP, sources said that he is not satisfied with his political career and expressed his dissatisfaction over BJP state leaders and union ministers for not supporting him while he raised his voice against Chief Minister K. Chandrashekara Rao and TRS government.
Besides this, he failed in setting cold war between state BJP leaders right though he approached high command several times. Due to the adverse circumstances in BJP, he has decided to quit the party and informed his decision to his close associates. Sniffing his mood, the BJP state leaders held talks with him several times and sources said that they failed in convincing Nagam.
Political Experts are saying that he is purely against TRS party and there is no chance of joining with it. “His ideology is purely opposite to left parties. He has only two options that are joining with Congress or going back to TDP. The Telugu Desam high command also desires his re-entry in order to strengthen party in South Telangana especially in Mahbubnagar. Congress party, which is focusing on power in 2019, has already approached him and waiting for his decision. As TPCC chief Mr. Uttam Kumar Reddy announced more joining after Sankranti, Nagam may also join Congress,” they said.
But, Dr. Nagam has already announced that he would take a decision after Ugadi, the new year of Telugus. “He has good relations with Revanth Reddy and congress senior leader from Mahbubnagar Mr. Jaipal Reddy. Majority of equations are emphasizing his entry into Congress. He may contest from Nagar Kurnool from Congress in upcoming elections. He may join in congress during the visit of AICC chief Rahul Gandhi to Telangana in February,” a source from Gandhi Bhavan said.
