Akkineni Nagarjuna is going to be seen as a trigger-happy cop in his upcoming film Officer. Directed by Ram Gopal Varma, the story of the film is set in the backdrop of Mumbai. Since the project started rolling, there have been unconfirmed reports that Officer is inspired by Hollywood film Taken. RGV denied those reports many times.
Revealing the idea behind Officer, RGV said Nagarjuna’s role is based upon a true life of IPS officer K.M. Prasanna who hails from Karnataka. Presently posted as Addl. Comm of Crime Branch Mumbai, K.M. Prasanna was appointed as a SIT officer in 2010 to investigate the case of a highly reputed cop in Mumbai. The trailers and teasers of Officer revealed the same line.
After personally interacting with him a few years ago, RGV decided to make his real life story into a reel life script and came up with ‘Officer’. He said K.M. Prasanna bear an uncanny resemblance to Nagarjuna which inspired him to pen the script for Officer.
The film is slated for release on June 1st.
