Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu is in Delhi today on an important mission- to get more funds allotted to the state in the upcoming Union Budget . Two days back union finance minister Arun Jaitely held a meeting with state finance ministers to find out their requirements. AP finance minister could not attend the meeting. Principal secretary P V Ramesh Kumar presented the wish list of the state to Jaitley. As the signals from centre are not encouraging, Naidu arrived in Delhi last night to meet all important ministers and senior leaders of BJP to ensure that liberal help extended to the state in the Budget 2016-17. Naidu’s top priority is to get Rs 4000 crore budgetary support to the construction of capital city Amaravati. Among other demands, Naidu expected to place before the centre are Polavarm funds, new railway zone to Vizag, Rail connectivity to Amaravati, grants to backward districts, financial help bridge the revenue gap etc.
This morning Naidu called on BJP president Amit Shah. In the meeting with Amit Shah, according to sources, the issue of nominating a couple of BJP leaders from Andhra Pradesh has cropped up. Union urban development minister M Venkaiah Naidu also participated in the meeting. He is one of the aspirants for Rajya Sabha nomination from Andhra Pradesh. Other aspirant from the state is Nirmala Seetaraman, union minister of state (IC) commerce and trade. He term from Andhra Pradesh is coming to an end in June. Naidu is expected to bargain more funds in lieu of Rajya Sabha nomination.
The CM is scheduled to meet Tourism Minister 12.00 Noon, Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu at 02.30 pm, Rural Development Minister 3.30 pm, Finance Minister Jaitely at 4.45 pm and Prime Minister 06.30 pm. He is also expected to meet Roads And Surface Minister Nitin Gadkari.
