Depriving the expectant Telugu media a spectacular event, Andhra Pradesh chief minister Chandrababu Naidu and his Telangana counterpart K Chandrasekhar Rao did not bump into each other in Raj Bhavan today, the August 15, 2015. They skipped the “At Home” hosted by Govenor ESL Narasimhan.
Ever since the chief ministers started baying for each other’s blood, they have been avoiding the possibility of meeting. Normally such occasion is provided by the common governor of two states ESL Narasimhan. With the animosity becoming too personal with recent cash-for-vote and telephone tapping, today, they gave a slip to the Narasimhan’s “At Home” high-Tea, a customary get-together thrown up the governor on national festivals such as Independence day and Republic day. Today, on the day of 69th Independence Day, Naidu and KCR were conspicuous by their absence.
Governor was visibly upset by their absence. When confronted by media, His Excellency simply responded by acknowledging their absence.
He said both the Chief Ministers did not turn up at the program. ” There was no specific reason for their absence,” he said, making apparent his embarrassment.
“Don’t jump into conclusions on their absence,” Narasimhan, however, cautioned the media.
A tight-lipped governor, this time spoke out some more cryptic sentences.
“I am acceptable to both chief ministers. As long as I’m here they accept me and I will continue to be accepted,” he said. Trying to cope with the situation, the governor, attempted to cover up the gap by stating, “you (media)are here, that is more than enough for me,” he added.
In July, when Governor hosted Iftar party, Naidu showed up but Telangana chief minister gave the slip feigning indisposition.
The programme was attended by Deputy Chief Minister Mohammed Mahmood Ali, Union Ministers Bandaru Dattatraya and YS Chowdhary, ministers and legislators of both the States, Leader of Opposition K Jana Reddy, TPCC President N Uttam Kumar and other dignitaries.
In the last high-tea, Naidu and KCR shared some lighter moments in Raj Bhavan, and KCR even advised Naidu to build the capital on river front.
