It’s official now. Chief minister Chandrababu Naidu, having successfully created an impression that TDP government is serious about shifting the temporary capital to Vijayawada, is planning to stage a come back to Hyderabad to save the T-party.
The idea of holding Assembly session in Visakhapatnam has been dropped. Similarly, the idea of speaker Kodela Sivaprasada Rao to hold a symbolic session in Tullur in CRDA by raising a makeshift Assembly is also consigned to dust bin. The next session of Assembly ie Budget Session will be held in Hyderabad. As the budget session is the longest session, Naidu can stay put continuously for a month. And he can make use of the time to set the T-house in order.
Legislative affairs minister Yanamala Ramakrishnudu said the Budget session will be held in Hyderabad. This clearly is an indication to Naidu’s plan to spend more time in Hyderabad in the name of budget preparation in the run up to Assembly session in February and oversee the GHMC election campaign entrusted with son Nara Lokesh.
There has been a churning in the party, ever since BJP-TDP candidate forfeited deposit in the Warangal Lok Sabha byelection, that the humiliating drubbing might be the result of the sense of alienation among the TDP supporters in the district. Because, as long as Naidu lived in Hyderabad, they felt reassured. But Naidu’s overnight flight to Vijayawada following cash for vote case and the absence of a suitable leader to instill confidence, TDP supporters might have chosen TRS instead of moving closer to Congress, which is in equally in bad shape- is the analysis in the party. Nothing could best answer than this for the defection of G Sayanna, a four-time MLA from Hyderabad, to TRS, close on the heels of Warangal loss, they say. The same feeling of alienation may force the Seemandhra people in Hyderabad to desert the party, which left them in the lurch by choosing to go to Vijayawada prematurely. Losing GHMC is end of the road for TDP in Telangana. So, Naidu slowly preparing the ground for to beat a retreat from Vijayawada.
By shifting his camp office to Vijayawada, by asking DGP to shift his office to temporary capital, and after forcing the ministers to set up their offices and homes in Vijayawada Naidu created an indelible impression on the minds of the people of Andhra that the CM is serious in relocating the capital to Vijayawada.
So now, citing finances crunch and non-availability of space he can say that he could not shift the administration fully. He would say he had no option but remain three days a week in Hyderabad.
The decision to hold budget session in Hyderabad is seen as a calculated move for a strategic retreat to Hyderabad, where his presence is badly required to resuscitate life to T-TDP.
