Kapu ministers in Chandrababu Naidu cabinet urged the Kapu people not to believe Mudragada Padmanabham who, they said, was working at cross purposes with Telugu Desam government in the matters of Kapu welfare. When TDP government was trying to help Kapus, Mudragada was creating problems at the behest of opposition parties, they alleged.
Deputy chief minister Nimmakayala Chinnarajappa, Minicipal administration minister P Narayana allged that the Mudragada was misleading the people.
Reacting on the Kapu reservation movement, Chinnarajappa said government was committed to accord BC status to Kapus but it would be done after nine months.
“The government can issue a GO giving effect to the Kapu reservations. But, the GO could be struck down as happened in the past following a challenge petition by some BC leaders. So, the government gave a commitment to the court that it would completed the process in nine months. Can’t Mudragada wait for nine months, for foolproof arrangement,” the deputy CM said.
The deputy CM, who also holds home portoliot, dismissed the charge that the government had created hurdles for peaceful conduct of Kapu Ikhya Garjana at Tuni Yesterday.
” We have extended full cooperation to the meeting. Still Mudragada incited people to commit violence, he accused.
Appointing a Kapu leader as deputy chief minister, setting up of Kapu Corporation and releasing an amount of Rs 100 crore, and institution of a commission to study the Kapu reservation issue demonstrate the TDP government’s commitment to the Kapus, he said. Municipal administration and urban developmen minste P Narayana, another Kapu, also participated in the meeting. Naidu accommodated three Kapu leaders in the cabinet, the third one is HRD minister Ganta Srininvasa Rao.
On the other side, Mandali Buddha Prasada, a kapu leader and deputy speaker of Andhra Pradesh Assembly also found fault with Mudragada Padmanabha. He advised the leader of Kapu Ikhya Garjana not creates caste hurdles for a state which was in the throes of bifurcation.” Mudragada should introspect on what happened in Tuni on Suday. Because of his actions, thousands of people who are not connected to the issue in any way suffered due to disruption in the rail traffic. It is unfortunate that Mudragada hadn ‘t regretted it,” Buddha Prasad said. He also advised Mudragada not to sow the seeds of caste poison in the state politics.
