The opposition YSR Congress said chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu had no moral right to continue as the chief minister of the state for his insulting remarks against the Dalits.
The party demanded that cases under SC, ST Atrocities (prevention) be booked against him.
‘It is highly deplorable on the part of Chadrababu Naidu for his casteist remarks which were demeaning for the dalits. We demand his immediate resignation,’ party Dalit MLAs K. Srinivasulu, Y. Isaiah and senior leader K. Partha Saradhi said on Tuesday.
Stating that Naidu’s remarks against dalits ill behoves of his stature as chief minister of Andhra Pradesh, they said, the statement, “that no one should wish to be born as a dalit” shows his arrogance and anti-dalit mindset.
‘We strongly condemn his remarks and demand his resignation. The government should book him under the appropriate sections for hurting the sentiments of dalits,’ they said.
They alleged that he was pitting one caste against the other and said his statement against dalit was highly objectionable.
