In a quite unnatural way chief minister Chandrababu Naidu inaugurated the yet-to-be-completed interim secretariat complex coming up at Velagapudi in the Amaravati Capital region Monday.
The CM had performed the puja on Monday early morning at 4.01 . The government has set the deadline for the completion and shifting of the secretariat from Hyderabad to Velagapudi June 15, 2016. Though the deadlines was set months before, Naidu chose to inaugurate the building which is not even complete 10 per cent on the pretext the there would be no auspicious moment after June.
After the puja, Naidu started working symbolically from the ‘office ‘ by signing a file related to the loan waiver to the horticultural farmers.
For the purpose of inauguration, the government forced the developers L&T to finish 2 rooms in block -4 overnight. Naidu performed the puja amid chants of vedic chants in the presence of many minister and senior leader as well as official from CRDA and the government.
” It has been a memorable journey for me and the people of Andhra Pradesh since the name of the capital had been finalized and the inauguration of temporary government office complex. I commend all those who contributed bricks to the capital construction and officials involved in the saga,” Naidu said after the puja. Referred to the farmers who offered land to the capital, he said these farmers gave lands reposing enormous faith on him.
He said he was extremely happy that his dream of building world-class capital had begun taking shape. Naidu praised the government of Singapore for preparing the master plan keeping in view the culture and aspirations of Telugu people and hoped that Amaravati would emerge world’s first self-sustainable city.
Then Naidu switched over to his oft-repeated refrain that centre’s inadequate assistance to the state. ” The union government should proactively take steps to the address all the issues incorporated in the AP Reorganization Act, 2014, especially in the case of extending funding to the AP’s project such as Amaravati construction and Polavaram,” he said.
” There won’t be any slackness in the implementation welfare schemes I have initiated for the people of the state. The state is poised to achieve double digit growth in spite for lack of funds,” Naidu said.
