In an attempt to separate the Kapu people from the multitude of Kapu leaders, who are attempting to Kapu “parochialism” with a view to promote their own political agenda, chief minister Chandrababu Naidu is launching “Kapu Runa Mela” (Kapu loan mela) in a spectacular program on Thursday in Eluru.
This is happening at a time when some Kapu leaders are planning to use BJP’s Rajahmundry meeting scheduled on March 6 to carry forward Kapu politics by encouraging them to join BJP, including Congress Rajya Sabha MP Chiranjeevi.
This is seen by manhy in TDP as Naidu’s master stroke to hit at the ilks of Mudragadas, Kannas, Botsas, Ramachandraiahs etc, who have become suddenly spokespersons for poor among the Kapus.
The chief minister is implementing his plan of action for the welfare fof deserved in the Kapu community. It is a clear departure from the unimplementable political agenda of BC quota to Kapus put forth by Kapu leader Mudragada Padmanabham.
By his actions Naidu wants to prove that Kapu leaders and Kapu people are two different categories and Kapu people deserve more attention than the leaders, said a TDP Kapu leader.
Even though Mudragada wanted constitution of Kapu commission immediately, Naidu feels distribution of benefits is more compelling. While poor deserve immediate help, The Kapu commission goes by its mandate which is a time consuming affair and the poor can’t wait all these days. ” Naidu is practical while Kapu leaders political. While Naidus program will help neutralize the resentment, Kapu leaders’ rhetoric is helpful more to create unrest in the community,” TDP sources said.
So, Naidu is distributing the loans to Kapu people selected by the recently formed Kapu Corporation. According to Corporation Chairman, Ch Ramanuja, CM is expected to distribute loans to about 25,000 Kapu beneficiaries- an extraordinary benefit for the community.
Ramanuja says the commission has received a whopping 3,20,621 applications from the members of Kapu community. Tomorrow’s loan mela, first in the series of Melas the corporation plans to organize in future, is being organized in the city’s Indore Stadium and it is for the first time the members Kapu community are getting loans in thousands. The government has already allocated Rs 100 crore to the corporation and the amount is expected to be increased to Rs 1000 crore in the next budget. Besides ministers the TDP mobilizing all important Kapu leaders to the Eluru program inorder to show that Kapus are with the party.
