Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy has not made a single statement till now on the Central Government’s formal recognition to Amaravati as the permanent Capital City of Andhra Pradesh. In fact, all the YCP leaders are silent initially. But, immediately after Chandrababu announced his Amaravati visit, Jagan Circar woke up from its deep slumber. The government obviously realised how Naidu’s Capital City tour on November 28 is going to cause irreversible and irreparable political damage to the YCP. Losing no further time, CM Jagan dropped hints that he is not against Amaravati altogether. Undoubtedly, CM is not ready to face greater backlash from the growing Amaravati sentiment in the state’s majority coastal region.
On the other hand, the YCP Ministers began describing Amaravati as a burial ground and a waste land fit only pigs and dogs. In their over-enthusiasm, Ministers Botsa and Kodali Nani damaged the image of Amaravati more than that of Chandrababu Naidu. Clearly, Jagan and his Ministers are more worried about Naidu visit than the Modi government’s latest pro-Amaravati stand. YCP is making last-ditch attempts to defend itself on Capital City policy but the general public and poor workers are now demanding work opportunities which is possible only through massive construction projects. Really, bigger challenges lie ahead for YSR son.
