The AP high court on Monday reserved the judgment on TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu’s bail petition. The court heard the arguments on both sides and reserved the judgment.
Senior advocate Dammalapati Srinivas argued for Chandrababu Naidu. Supreme Court senior advocate Siddhartha Luthra also joined the arguments virtually. Additional advocate general Ponnavolu Sudhakar Reddy argued for the state government.
The advocates for Chandrababu Naidu said that Naidu was required to undergo cataract surgery and wanted the court to grant him bail. They said that Naidu’s health is deteriorating in the jail and argued that he should be given bail.
There are two petitions pending in the high court. Bail petition and interim bail petition. As the ACB court in Vijayawada refused to grant bail, the advocates filed the bail petition in the high court. They also filed the interim petition through a house motion seeking bail.
Sources say that the high court is likely to give its judgment on the interim petition on Tuesday. It is also likely that the judgment on the bail petition will be out on Tuesday.
Chandrababu Naidu was arrested on September 9 and produced in the ACB court on September 10 in the skill development scam involving Rs 371 crore. He was sent to judicial remand on September 10 and since then he had been in jail.
The court had granted home food for Chandrababu Naidu. Later, when the TDP leaders complained about mosquitos and hot weather, the ACB court directed the jail officials to provide AC in the room in which Chandrababu Naidu was lodged.
The TDP leaders now have been campaigning that the health of Chandrababu Naidu is deteriorating and he needs immediate bail from the jail. The doctors from the government general hospital in Rajamahendravaram have checked Chandrababu Naidu and gave their report to the ACB court.
