Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu’s son Nara Lokesh who is also the apparent heir oddly was side-lined not only from Nandyal bypoll campaign but also from Kakinada municipal corporation elections. The Minister of IT&C who has been maintaining low profile when it comes to election, is clearly being shielded by the TDP supremo himself.
Lokesh who visited Nandyal only once to campaign, has not even uttered a word about KMC elections. The TDP which wanted to give credit to the MLC, seems to have redrawn its plans to not expose the newbie to criticism in the event of a loss, especially bearing in the mind the fact that he failed miserably in GHMC elections. Any new defeat for the ruling party will hamper Lokesh’s political career.
The TDP general secretary is known to be a troublemaker especially when it comes to addressing in Telugu in public. Lokesh who was supposed to lead TDP to win the Nandyal byelections was side-lined immediately after the dates were announced. While Nandyal delivers the result on Monday, Kakinada votes on Tuesday. Nonetheless, these two elections were a good chance for the TDP seniors to give lessons and teach a couple tricks of the trades in politics to the future emperor of the party.
