AP Minister Nara Lokesh has launched a fierce attack on Ex Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, criticizing his comments on law and order in Andhra Pradesh. Lokesh accused the YSRCP government for last 5 years was fostering crime and violence in the state.
Crime Statistics
Nara Lokesh highlighted alarming crime statistics during YS Jagan’s five-year rule. He claimed that 2,027 women were murdered and 30,000 women were reported missing during this period. The minister also pointed out that 192 SC and 58 ST individuals were killed.
Drug Issues
The AP minister didn’t hold back in his accusations regarding drug-related problems. Lokesh alleged that the YSRCP was actively promoting ganja and drug use in last years during there government and also claimed that the party was YSRCP profited from the drug trade. He criticized the YS Jagan’s government for failing to address drug-related crimes effectively, suggesting a deliberate negligence in tackling the issues.
Women’s Safety
Lokesh cited several harrowing cases of violence against women and girls, questioning Jagan’s response to these incidents. He mentioned the gang rape of a 12-year-old in Konaseema district, an assault on an 8-year-old in Srikakulam district, and the murder of a young woman in Vijayawada. The minister challenged the Ys Jagan’s silence on these issues, asking if he had ever visited the victims’ families or ordered any reviews of such cases.
Minority Issues
Nara Lokesh also raised concerns about attacks on minorities during YS Jagan’s rule, He referred to the murder of Abdul Salam’s family, the killing of Ibrahim in Narasaraopet for protecting Wakf properties, and the suicide of a Muslim student in Palamaner due to alleged harassment. Lokesh accused the YSRCP of creating an environment where minorities feel unsafe and persecuted during YS Jagan’s rule.
Lokesh didn’t spare any aspect of the YS jagan’s government approach to law enforcement in his criticism. He questioned the effectiveness of the Disha Act, which was merely using it for publicity without proper implementation. The minister also alleged that the YSRCP administration had dismantled crime prevention tools put in place by the previous government, such as CCTV cameras and fingerprint identification systems.
TDP’s Promises
In contrast to his criticisms, Lokesh outlined the TDP-led alliance’s plans for improving law and order in the state. He promised to make Andhra Pradesh drug-free, implement strict measures against criminals, and set up fast-track courts for serious crimes. The minister emphasized their commitment to undoing the damage he claims was done during the YSRCP’s rule.
