The most successful edubusinessman and Municipal Administration minister P Narayana has become butt of a joke in Andhra Pradesh, especially among his TDP colleagues. Though he transformed the scene of teaching business in Andhra Pradesh by opening mall like colleges everywhere, the way he entered politics was detested even by his colleagues.
First ranks are assured to his colleges. Though the students who get admissions into top rated medical and engineering colleges from these teaching shops is a negligible fraction compared to those who fail , Narayana and his ilk gained the control of mass media by paying huge sums for the advertisements and ensured that their message got burned into the psyche of Telugu families.
Narayana was the first person to use the advertisements to push his teaching business into a most successful enterprise in the country. He succeeded in his attempt to make his colleges or schools are the only alternatives for the aspiring parents. Later, succeeded in entering cabinet without any political filed work, which is not the practice in AP. Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu took him as the minister and assigned the covetous Municipal administration department, and later got him elected to the Legislative Council, that was the ‘power’ of Narayana.
But the same Narayana, who is almost second in cabinet, could not fare well and had been ranked last, which is equal to fail, by his boss, chief minister Naidu,in performance. No amount of apologies and explanations by Naidu later would please Narayana, whose feathers badly ruffled. Many senior ministers are happy that Narayana was shown his place in public life. The whisper in the TDP circles is that Narayana would be removed or entrusted with some other lighter department to make room of Nara Lokesh.
Opposition parties are unsparing in poking fun at the minister. “Narayana owes an explanation for the people as to why he got last rank and how his colleges get first ranks,” asked CPI secretary Ramakrishna. ” Both Narayana and his relative Ganta Srinivaras (HRD minister) are destroying the education in the state,” he said stating that Narayana was unfit in public life. ” He can go back to his teaching shops,” he said. YSRCP leader Ambati Ramamabu sugggested Narayana should advertise his last rank as well with the same force he does for first ranks for his colleges.
