Election commission has released the election schedule for the byelection for Narayankhed Assembly constituency in Telangana. Polling to the constituency will be held on February 13 and counting will take place on Feb 16. The nomination process will begin on January 20 and go on till January 27. The nominations will be scrutinized on Jan 28. The last date for withdrawal of nominations is January 30.
The byelection is necessitated by the death of Congress MLA Kista Reddy on August 25, 2015. Congress party proposed to nominate son of Kista Reddy unanimously with the support of other parties in recognition of his service to the Constituency. Kista Reddy was chairman, public accounts committee at the time of death. He was elected to the Assembly from Narayankhed four times in 1989,1999.2009 and 2014.
But, TRS is reportedly not in favor leaving the constituency to the Congress as it falls in the Medak district, native district of chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao. TRS leadership wants the entire district become the pocket borough of the party. So, contest looks inevitable.
