Yesterday, former cricketer turned politician Navjot Singh Sidhu resigned from BJP party. Arvind Kejriwal Aam Aadmi party welcomed his move. Then the speculations started that he will be joining Aam Aadmi Party. Media started circulating news that Navjot Singh will be announced as AAP Punjab CM candidate.
Today his wife, Navjot Kaur, came out and said that she will be staying in BJP. With this statement, she put an end to the rumours about following her husband’s footsteps. Navjot served as three times MP from Punjab. He stepped out from contesting 2014 Loksabha elections from Amritsur to make way for Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitely. Later he was offered a Rajya Sabha seat.
Latest reports emerging to suggest that the controversial cricketer’s role might be limited for campaigning only. Probably, he may be the face of the AAP in Punjab elections. AAP is eyeing for a strong Jat Sikh leader to represent Punjab’s strong hold community. It can be seen what role AAP will be offered to Navjot Singh Sidhu.
