The unyielding Bollywood ‘Bad Boy’ with a loose tongue, Salman Khan got summons from the National Commission for Women (NCW) for his rape analogy. Now, the 50-year-old Sallu Bhai has to appear before the Commission on July 8 to tender an apology.
Unsatisfied with the written reply sent by Slaman Khan, the NCW issued the summons with a warning that it might proceed to take action as it deems fit, if he fails to comply with. The women panel reportedly got Salman’s reply in the form an e-mail thorough his lawyer.
“Commission finds that you are not willing to apologise for the remarks made by you. The explanation offered by you, after making such an irresponsible and callous statement… doesn’t amount to an apology. Your reply is therefore not satisfactory,” the NCW said in its notice issued on Thursday.
“Salman’s letter is not at all conciliatory; there’s not even a hint of an apology. In fact he tried to find fault with NCW for taking up this issue,” the NCW chief L Kumaramangalam said.
Khan used the objectionable rape analogy to highlight his tedious shooting schedule for his latest film Sultan in an interview. “When I used to walk out of the ring after the shoot, I used to feel like a raped woman. I couldn’t walk straight,” the actor had said. The NCW issued a suo motu notice, asking Khan to tender a public apology within five days or risk being summoned to the NCW office.
On the other hand, the Maharashtra State Commission for Women on Wednesday issued summons for Salman’s personal appearance on July 7 following the actor’s failure to turn up before it to offer explanation.
