Acharya NG Ranga University Vice Chancellor Prof. Vallabhaneni Damodar Naidu was arrested under the SC, ST Atrocities Prevention Act. He was produced before the judge and was remanded to judicial custody. The Tullur police registered the atrocities case against the Vice Chancellor on a complaint given by one Vuyyala Murali Krishna belonging to Purushottampatnam village in the Chilakaluripet mandal in Guntur district.
Murali Krishna joined the university as an attender in 2016 when there was the TDP Rule. But in 2019, his services were removed. His allegation was that he was harassed for being a follower of the YCP. He complained to the police that VC Damodar Naidu hurled caste abuses against when he met him at the AP Secretariat. The Tullur police acted swiftly and got the CCTV camera footage based on which the VC was arrested.
The VC arrest sent shivers in the opposition political circles. Till now, such cases were used against the politicians only. The misuse of SC, ST Atrocities Act is alarming the TDP leaders. Kodela Sivaprasada Rao family also faced similar cases.
