Young and talented actor Nikhil carved out a niche for himself in Tollywood with his sensible selection of scripts. Post Sekhar Kammula’s Happy Days, the actor had to wait for nearly 6 years to bag his first solo hit in the form of Sudheer Varma’s Swamy Rara. The success of Swamy Rara made Nikhil a star to watch out in the coming years and he has backed it up with Karthikeya and Surya vs Surya. After bagging a failure with Sankarabharanam, the young actor made a strong comeback with the recent sleeper hit Ekkadiki Pothavu Chinnadavada – a film which made him a bankable asset for producers.
EPC emerged as a blockbuster at the box office despite the demonetization effect. The film collected solid revenues in all areas, making it one of the biggest hits in 2016. Also, the satellite rights of EPC fetched a whopping price for the producer. It is learnt that Zee Telugu has paid nearly 4 Crores to bag the satellite rights. This is a solid price considering that the film is made on a budget of around 10 Crores.
The strong success of EPC resulted in good buzz for his next outing, Keshava. Directed by Sudheer Varma, Keshava is a revenge drama which is fast finishing its shooting formalities. Reportedly, the film is a hot cake among the trade circles. After the anticipation that has been build with the release of intriguing posters, the film has been getting solid offers from distributors. It is heard that a noted distribution house has offered a stunning price to bag the Nizam rights of Keshava. Abhishek Pictures, the production house behind Keshava, is surprised with the offers from the local distributors. With this craze , the film is likely to ensure table profits for the producer even before its release.
Slowly and steadily, Nikhil emerged as an actor who can be relied on by his producers. We have to wait and see if Nikhil continues his success streak in 2017.
