Former State Election Commissioner and Citizens For Democracy (CFD) general secretary Naimmagadda Ramesh Kumar, on Tuesday alleged that in Andhra Pradesh, the voters list is being tampered. He alleged that IPAC and Ram Info were tampering with the voters list in the state.
Speaking to media persons in Guntur, Ramesh Kumar also alleged that the personal details of the voters were also being collected illegally. He said that the Ram Info had served the state government in the commercial department in the past. However, after a change of management, the company was indulging in illegal activities.
The IPAC and Ram Info were collecting the data of the social influencers in the state and threatening them with false cases. The two organisations were focusing more on the social influencers of the opposition parties, Ramesh Kumar alleged.
Several cases are being filed against the opposition party activists across the state, he alleged. The two organisations were terrorising the people who questioned them on the irregularities in the voters list, he said.
He said that the Citizens for Democracy is planning to constitute a committee in the state to verify the voters list and also check the fake FIRs being filed against some opposition activists. He said that he was looking at taking the services of the retired police officers to check the false cases.
Ramesh Kumar said that they would take the irregularities to the notice of the Election Commission. He wanted the police in the state to work impartially and do not represent the ruling party. He further said that they would also take the services of the retired judges on the false cases being filed against the opposition party leaders in the state.
He said that it took three years for him to get the voter card in his native place in Guntur district. Though he had surrendered his vote in Hyderabad, it was not easy for him to enrol here and get the vote. Local residence is important for anyone to get the voter ID card, Ramesh Kumar said.
