For the first time in India, a minister’s son has been booked under Nirbhaya case. This has happened in Hyderabad. Telangana police served notice on Ravela Susheel, son of Ravela Kishore Babu, Social Welfare minister, Andhra Pradesh, based on a complaint filed by a woman, who was the victim of a molestation attempt by Susheel. The minister’s son was at large. Police said the notice had been served at the residence of the minister. According to DCP Venkateswarao cases under sections 354 and 509 had been booked against Susheel and another accused. ” We did not know who the accused was. The complainant had not given any name. But, during the course of investigation, it was found that the person’s name was Ravela Susheel and he is son of Andhra Pradesh minister Ravela Kishore Babu,” the DCP told media.
Since a notice had been served at his residence, Susheel had to present himself before the police in a day or two, the police official said. Amid the speculation that police were soft on the minister’s son, local municipal corporator, Vijayalakshmi demanded the arrest of the accused. She also demanded that case under Nirbhaya act be booked against the man who harassed Muslim teacher.
As per the complaint received by the police, Susheel and his driver , while travelling in Banjara Hills, attempted to drag a burqa clad woman into the car. They reportedly harassed her and she was rescued by the local people, who responded to the alarm she raised. The crowd is said to have beaten them and later police entered the scene to disperse the mob. Some allege that the police let Susheel flee while taking the other man into custody.
