Sankranthi is the best season for Telugu films. As per the financials involved and theatres available, three films can release and have a decent release during the season. But the upcoming Sankranthi is getting over-crowded. Mahesh Babu’s Guntur Kaaram, Venkatesh’s Saindhav, Ravi Teja’s Eagle, Vijay Deverakonda’s Family Star and Teja Sajja’s HanuMan are the announced films. There are a lot of speculations about the postponements of some of these films but the makers of all the five films are strict on their stand to release their movies during the Sankranthi holiday season.
The non-theatrical deals of some of the films are yet to be closed and the digital platforms are mounting pressure on the makers to move out from Sankranthi race to get a better digital release date. At the same time, the distributors are left puzzled about the theatrical deals. With heavy competition, it would be tough to accommodate the theatres to all the films and the revenue will get divided. The buyers will not be comfortable to buy the films for hefty prices if there are more than three releases for Sankranthi 2024. For now, all the five films are active in Sankranthi 2024 race. A better clarity about the Sankranthi releases would be known in December.
