The “corruption commotion” continued in Andhra Pradesh Assembly even after the House reassembled following an adjournment this afternoon. While YSRCP member Kotamreddy Sridhar Reddy demanded the government to institute a judicial inquiry into large scale land purchases in the capital region, legislative affairs minister Yanamala Ramakrishnud said no member could make allegations without any proof and demand inquiry. Sridhar Reddy said the CM was behaving like opposition leader, and Jagan and late YSR were chief ministers, when he challenged that he won’t allow the house to run if Jagan failed to present proof for the charges he made. This should normally the behavior from opposition benches.
Intervening, Yanamala Ramakrishnudu quoted rule No 320 of Andhra Pradesh Assembly procedures, which the minister said lays down the procedure to make allegations on the floor of the House. ” 320. No allegation of a defamatory or incriminatory nature shall be made by a member against any person unless the member has given intimation to the Speaker and also to the Minister concerned: Provided that the Speaker may at any time prohibit any member from making such allegation if he is of the opinion that such allegation is derogatory to the dignity of the House or that no public interest is served by making such allegation,” Yanamala read out the rule and stated that Jagan should not base his charges on reports published in newspapers and that too his own newspaper.
Yanamala made it clear that there won’t be any business until Jagan presents prima facie proof for the charges he leveled against the government. Based on the newspaper reports Jagan had resorted to mudslinging, the minister remarked. BJP leader Vishnukumar Raju also demanded apology from Jagan for making baseless allegations.
Speaker Kodela Sivaprasada Rao in his remarks said Jagan’s charges were creating doubts in the minds of the people, who were waiting with bated breath for the development of capital and arrival of investments. ” The charges should not demolish the hopes of the people. We have shown the rule position. Rules do not permit to level allegations without proof. There must be prima facie evidence to make any charge on the floor of the House,” the speaker said.
The Jagan asked about the charges of corruption the TDP member made against him. ” What prima facie wsa there when TDP made allegations of corruption against me. They said I had committed corruption to the tune of Rs 43,000 crore. Did CBI court say that I was guilty. Who booked the cases against me and when? The cases booked against me when Rajasekhar Reddy died. The logic of proof equally applies to me as well. How did Chandrababu earned so much wealth?,” he asked.
The din continued in the house with both sides making charges and counter charges.
