On the second day too, after Hyderabad High Court stayed the suspension of MLA RK Roja , the Assembly witnessed high drama with the opposition YSRC MLAs trying to gain entry for Roja into Assembly. The day began with chief marshal stating that he won’t allow suspended member in to the House, when she tried to enter the house in the company of colleagues, led by leader YS Jaganmohan Reddy.
The chief marshal said he had no instructions to allow the MLA into Assembly. Jaganmohan Reddy himself tried to convince the chief marshal that the member was armed with High Court order, which the chief marshal refused to take into cognizance. The chief marshal simply said he does’t want to comment on the High Court orders. ” I have no instructions to allow the member into Assembly, ” was the stand he took stubbornly.
On the other side, YSRC members, who came to the House, wearing black dress in protest against the dishonoring of High Court order by speaker, staged sit-in in the well of Assembly, raising slogans” we want justice”. They demanded that Assembly should honor the court order and allow Roja into Assembly. They surrounded the speaker’s podium and demanded that they be allowed to speak. The speaker refused to give them a chance to speak which led to the chaos in the House. Speaker’s suggestion that the opposition members could raise the matter during the zero hour , instead of disturbing the question hour, fell on deaf ears. Sticking to their guns, the opposition members said the issue should be discussed forthwith suspending the question hour. Then speaker Kodela Sivaprasada Rao adjourned the House for ten minutes. As the same situation continued even after the House reassembled, the speaker had to adjourn the House for ten minutes for the second time.
The opposition party cried foul over the refusal of the speaker to act on the privileges notice they served against chief minister Naidu, ministers Ravela Kishore Babu, Devineni Umamahaswar Rao, Kamineni Srinivas and Atchannaidu. ” Even though four ministers and chief minister Chandrababu Naidu freely used abusive and un-parliamentary language against the opposition leader YS Jaganmohan Reddy, their privilege notice has not been acted upon,” they said.
