Yeddyurappa has been the frontrunner for the position of CM after the resignation H.D. Kumaraswamy from the top post. Everyine thought he will be getting the green signal from Delhi central leadership to meet the Karnataka governor and request him to allow to form the government. However, as per the latest reports, he didnt get green signal yet and it became a cause of concern for his followers and there are some speculations whether Modi-Shah duo contemplating to bring new face on to the screen. This all alerted Yeddyurappa and he immediately started meeting BJP national leaders.
Actually, in BJP there is a rule that leaders who are older than 75 years are not allowed to take key positions like these, though they are allowed to take up constitutional positions like governor. Earlier, Advani, senior leader of BJP was sidelined because of this rule. Netizens also have been vocal in social media and reminding BJP leaders about this rule. Yeddyurappa is currently 76-year-old.
However, other analysts are pointing that Modi-Shah duo might allow Yeddyrappa to form the government this time and the reason for delaying this might be to sort out the issue of rebel MLAs. It is known news that Congress-JDS government collapsed after losing trust vote with 99-105 votes. Apart from these 204 MLAs who voted, there are as many as 20 MLAs whose decision can turn the tables in favor of Cong-JDS again. So, BJP leadership want to fix all such loopholes before forming the government so that next BJP government will not have to face the same issues that were faced by Kumaraswamy.
We will have to wait and see whether BJP will make Yeddy as CM again or bring a new face on to the screen.
