Tamil Superstar Vijay has been struggling to establish his market across Telugu states. His last outing Mersal raked decent numbers in Telugu and is the highest grosser among his films in Telugu.
Vallabhaneni Ashok acquired the Telugu theatrical rights of his next film Sarkar for Rs 6 crores and the film has been sold for Rs 7.70 crores across AP and Telangana. With no big releases for Diwali, the film is expected to register decent numbers in Telugu. AR Murugadoss is the director and Keerthy Suresh, Varalaxmi Sarathkumar are the heroines.
Though the film has been carrying huge buzz in Tamil, the Telugu version is expected to open low. The movie stills of Sarkar are not given to the Telugu producer even after several attempts. Vijay clarified that he is not in a mood to promote the Telugu version of the film. After a debacle like Spyder, AR Murugadoss too is not keen on facing Telugu audience and fans through promotions. With just hours left for the release of Sarkar, the promotions for the Telugu version are yet to kick-start.
Vallabhaneni Ashok and his team are left in shock with the happenings. Vijay who is struggling to establish his market should spend ample time for Telugu promotions. Right from Kamal Haasan to Suriya, Karthi and Vishal, all the Tamil actors have focused on promoting their films in Telugu. But Vijay turned out to ignore Telugu audience which will soon leave him behind in the race in Tollywood.
