The prevailing tense relations between NDA partners TDP and BJP in Andhra Pradesh mostly seems to be due to absence of understanding on nominated posts. The refusal of Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu to include BJP leaders in various nominated committees leading to growing unrest among BJP leaders towards TDP regime.
After becoming party of Chandrababu Naidu’s government with two BJP MLAs joining his cabinet, many BJP leaders expected nominated posts in the state government. Party leaders prepared several lists and submitted to Chandrababu Naidu. Even some central BJP leaders also forwarded few such lists to them. But Naidu silence over such lists making state BJP leaders restless.
During last two and half years, except nominating BJP leader Bhanuprakash Reddy from Tirupati to the TTD Trust Board, no visible BJP leader gets any nominated position in the state. According to sources, Chandrababu Naidu has himself inclined to offer nominated posts to BJP, as at the Center, Narendra Modi government is not obliging him by providing nominated posts to TDP leaders.
Chandrababu Naidu has reportedly particularly angry with the Prime Minister that his repeated request for Governor post to TDP’s veteran dalith leader M Narsimhulu was kept in cold storage. According to TDP sources Naidu has been expressing his disappointment with the center in this regard to party leaders many times.
“He offered Rajya Sabha seat to union ministers-first Nirmala Sitaraman and now Suresh Prabhu. He given one MLC seat, besides place in TTD trust board. Two of their four MLAs were accommodated in the state cabinet. But not a single TDP leader was accommodated at the center” was the main grudge of Chandrababu.
Even, he was not said to be happy for providing only two berths in the union cabinet against about 20 of their MPs. Moreover, the problem with BJP whose recommendation to be taken serious? “Right from party chief Amit Shah, some people in the PMO to state level leaders recommends different names. Whose names to be taken into consideration?” said to be a major dilemma before the TDP leadership?
