The sophisticated technology being adopted by the Election Commission of India (ECI) this time will allow as many as 384 candidates on the Ballot of the Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) against the permitted list 64 earlier.
An official from the ECI told ‘Telugu 360’ that each EVM that integrated with Control Unit (CU) is consisting of 64 candidates including NOTA (None of The Above). “Earlier we had technology to utilize only 4 EVMs per a CU so that the EVM ballots used to permit only 63 Candidates + NOTA. In the previous elections, it was necessary to go for ballot papers in cases of exceeding the number of candidates beyond 63. But, now the news technology allows utilizing 24 EVMs per a CU and it can permit as many as 383 candidates + NOTA,” the official added.
As per the sources of State Election Commission, there is no such huge number in the current elections after scrutinizing nominations of candidates. Meanwhile, the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of Telangana Mr. Rajat Kumar told media that the administration would distribute voters’ slips from November 24.
