MIM leader and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi on Monday surrendered before the south zone police in the cases related to the attack on Telangana PCC president N Uttamkumar Reddy, Opposition leader in Council Md Ali Shabbir and MLA Ram Mohan Reddy. The police produced him before the 8th Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate upon which he was granted bail.
On February 2, the day of polling for GHMC elections, Asaduddin along with about 100 followers roamed around the Old City creating panic among the voters and allegedly attacked Uttam, Shabbir Ali in front of Mirchowk Police station. The Congress leaders went to the police station to get the local candidate, who was taken into custody by the police, released. In the attack, wind screen of Uttam’s car had been smashed while Shabbir received bruises.
The police registered a case against Asaduddin and his followers under section 143,341,427,506,188 and 109 IPC.
Asaduddin Owaisi this morning presented himself before the DCP South Zone leading to his formal arrest by the Mirchowk police. After a medical check-up at Osmania Hospital he was produced before the Nampally court. The court granted bail and directed him to furnish two sureties of 5000/- each. The Police made elaborate security arrangements in the court premises to prevent any untoward incident.
