Hyderabad: Telangana Deputy Chief Minister Mohammad Ali has once again made comments on Rio Olympic champion PV Sindhu and her long time coach Pullela Gopichand. Speaking to media persons on Friday, Mahmood Ali backed his recent comments against Gopichand. Telangana government would provide better coaching for Sindhu to win gold medal in Tokyo Olympics 2019, he said.
Expressing anger over the media for skewing his words, the Deputy CM clarified that his intention was not to remove India’s chief badminton coach Gopichand.
It may be recalled that the Deputy Chief Minister, who hurriedly convened a press conference during Sindhu’s homecoming ceremony, said that the government would find a “better coach” although Gopichand had given good training to Sindhu. The remarks sparked controversy with the netizens trolling Mahmood Ali in social networking sites.
