Three films, Venkatesh’s Guru , Puri Jagannadh’s Rogue and Nayanatara’s Dora released last Friday. While Guru managed to get a limited screen count, Rogue released in a very less number of screens in Overseas.
After taking a slow start on Thursday premiers with $ 22K, Guru failed to make any impact at the Overseas box office. The film managed to collect a meagre $ 36K and $ 55K on Friday and Saturday to take the total past $ 100k. On Sunday, the sports drama collected less than Saturday. Trade pundits opine that the film will be able to recover 15 percent of the investment. As the film’s Hindi and Tamil versions released long back, overseas audience haven’t shown interest on the Telugu version.
On the other side, Puri Jagannadh’s Rogue will be one of the biggest disasters in recent times. Audience have thoroughly rejected the film due to the run-of-the-mill storyline and lackluster narration. The film has hardly registered any noticeable figures in the first weekend and will be a loss venture in overseas.
Pawan Kalyan’s Katamarayudu, which had a decent first weekend, fizzled out in the second week and registered dismal numbers. After going past $ 1 million mark in the first weekend, the Veeram remake couldn’t sustain at the box office. On Saturday and Sunday, the film collected $ 11K and $ 20K, taking the total to $1,126 K.
