For the second consecutive week, overseas box office remains very dull due to the poor run of the recent releases. Out of the four low budget films that released last Friday, only Sundeep Kishan’s Nagaram and Anjali’s Chitrangada were able to get decent screen count in overseas. While Nagaram managed noticeable figures from Telugu and Tamil versions, Chitrangada registered poor figures in the first weekend. As none of the films emerged as a good hit, the trade is having a dull weekend in Overseas.
Nagaram and Maanagaram ( Tamil) collected $ 9K and $ 11K in the first weekend. The film garnered good reviews before its release, but it didn’t reflect in the box office numbers. With good promotions, the film could have collected better figures.
Anjali’s Chitrangada will be a huge disaster as the film couldn’t make any show in the first weekend. The horror comedy registered a paltry $900 till now. The film might not recover even the expenses in overseas.
Rana’s multilingual film Ghazi, which released in February, is still continuing to mint some decent figures at the box office. The war-at-sea film managed to collect $ 5K last weekend, taking the overall total to $ 766K.
With no notable releases in the next week too, the box office is likely to remain very dull till the release of Pawan Kalyan’s Katamarayudu.
Katamarayudu is gearing up for a grand release on April 24th. With spring break round the corner and the considerable gap since Pawan Kalyan’s last release, trade is anticipating a massive opening weekend for Katamarayudu. The pre release business is very impressive and expectations are quite high on this action entertainer. Pawan Kalyan’s craze and the solo release will surely be a big plus for Katamarayudu to register phenomenal figures in the first weekend.
