The 90th Academy Awards ceremony, presented by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS), honored the best films of 2017. The ceremony took place at the Dolby Theater in Hollywood, Los Angeles, California.
“The Shape of Water” got the best film award. It seems the out of the box concept of the movie enthralled the jury too. Set in Baltimore in 1962, the plot follows a mute custodian at a high-security government laboratory who falls in love with a captured humanoid-amphibian creature. The director of the movie “Guillermo del Toro” got the best director too.
Gary Oldman got best actor for “Darkest Hour” and Frances McDormand got best actress for “Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri”. Best foreign language award won by “A Fantastic Woman (Chile)”.
