Director Hanu Raghavapudi’s romantic drama Padi Padi Leche Manasu is getting ready for release on December 21st. The film was extensively shot in Kolkata and Nepal. Banking on Sai Pallavi’s craze in audience, the makers have spent solid budget on the film.
As Hanu Raghavapudi’s previous films failed at box office, PPLM didn’t excite trade circles much and the pre release business is little underwhelming. Also, multiple movies are in contention at box office on the same day. Varun Tej’s Anthariksham and Kannada period film KGF, which is carrying good buzz in Telugu, are also releasing on Dec 21st.
In overseas too, Padi Padi Leche Manasu will have a tough ask. It will face stiff competition from Hollywood biggies like Aquaman which is set for grand release on the same day. Cinemark is very particular about giving screens because of Hollywood releases. Against all these odds, PPLM should perform exceedingly well to emerge as a hit.
Sharwanand has the knack of picking up sensible stories that will cut across all sections of audience. His chemistry with Sai Pallavi is going to be the major highlight of the film. As the budget shot up, Sharwanand has agreed to do another film for the same production as compensation. So, the result of PPLM is going to be very crucial. It would be interesting to see if he scores a big hit despite heavy competition.
