Recent former Dy. Speaker Ms. Padma Devender Reddy may face tough fight in Medak Assembly segment as the ex-MLA Mr. Sashidhar Reddy joined with his elder brother and congress leader contestant from Prajakutami in Telangana Elections.
Ex-MLA Mr. Sashidhar Reddy sought ticket from Congress from Medak but, the seat was given to TJS under alliance in Prajakutami and he filed nomination as rebel from NCP. Surprisingly, the Congress High-Command directed his brother Mr. Upender Reddy to file nominations followed by providing B-form to him and amazingly the TJS candidate withdrew his nomination. This development has increased hopes in Ms. Padma Devender Reddy on a grand victory with huge majority.
Meanwhile, the TPCC chief Mr. Uttam Kumar Reddy convinced Mr. Sashidhar Reddy for not an active role in the poll-fight and he agreed to put himself aside from the election. Soon after this development the strength of Prajakutami has increased and it may lead to a tough competition to Padma Devender Reddy, sources said.
In the previous elections, as many as 1,58,292 (77.7%) votes were polled of which Ms. Padma got 89,654 and the nearest opponent and film actress Ms. Vijaya Shanthi got 50,054 votes. This time, the Prajakutami hopes on the vote bank of TDP, TJS and CPI apart from support of traditional vote banks from the cadres of Sashidhar Reddy and Upender Reddy.
