The AP state government, which came into power criticizing the previous administration for halting development, which now launched large-scale projects under the “Palle Panduga – Panchayati Week” initiative. As part of this program, development activities are set to begin across 13,324 villages, focusing on improving rural infrastructure.
According to recent data, over 30,000 works will be undertaken with a budget of ₹4,500 crore. These projects include building cement roads (CC roads), bitumen-tar roads (BT roads), agricultural ponds, and cattle sheds to improve village infrastructure.
A per reports the number of works submitted by each mandal (block). Chapadu Mandal leads with 53 works submitted, including 47 for CC roads, marking it as the mandal with the most submissions. On the other hand, Ex CM and Current MLA YS Jagan Mohan Reddy constituency Pulivendula Mandal submitted the fewest works, with only 7 total, out of which 4 are for CC roads.
TDP led AP government has issued clear guidelines on using locally available materials such as cement and sand for road construction. These materials should be sourced from approved quarries, ensuring quality and timely completion of the projects. For transparency, worksite boards displaying details like costs and completion timelines are to be placed at every road construction site.
This large-scale initiative, supported by funds from the MGNREGA scheme, aims to provide employment for rural families while improving village infrastructure. Through “Palle Panduga,” the government is looking to build 3,000 kilometers of cement roads and 500 kilometers of tar roads, along with various other development projects.
