Hyderabad: Welcoming the Telangana government’s decision to create new districts, the all-party delegation on Saturday demanded that the State government should formulate guidelines as per the Andhra Pradesh Districts (Formation) Act, 1974.
The representatives of the all-party delegation suggested that the creation of new districts should be carried out in a scientific manner and should not serve political purpose. In more than two and half-hour meeting, the political parties expressed their views on delimitation exercise, Assembly segments and various other problems which will be faced during the creation of districts. An elaborate discussion was made during the meeting which was convened under the leadership of Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao.
With the political parties stressing on guidelines, the State government said that it would convene all-party meeting twice before finalising notification. The Telangana sub-committee members, Telangana Chief Secretary Rajiv Sharma, Chief Commissioner of Land Administration (CCLA) Raymond Peter, Telangana Revenue department Special Chief Secretary Pradeep Chandra along with several other senior officials were present during the meeting.
