Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan is in the spotlight after his recent speech about Sanatana Dharma. Lawyers in Madurai have filed a complaint against him, claiming his words might cause problems between states.
While defending Sanatana Dharma, Pawan Kalyan responded to people who called it a “virus” that needs to be destroyed. He stated, “Politicians like you have come and gone. Nothing will happen to Sanatana Dharma.”
When asked about Pawan Kalyan’s speech, Tamil Nadu Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin simply said, “Let’s wait and see.”
The lawyers who filed the complaint allege that Pawan Kalyan singled out Udhayanidhi Stalin in his speech. They believe this could create bad feelings between Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu. As a result, they want the police to take action against Pawan Kalyan. However, it’s not clear whether these lawyers are linked to the ruling party in Tamil Nadu.
Credit to Pawan Kalyan, the Sanatana Dharma debate is causing waves in Indian politics. But at the same time, Pawan Kalyan will face a new set of challenges at the national level, starting with Udhayanidhi Stalin, the Deputy Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu.
But one thing is for sure: Pawan Kalyan has entered national-level politics with all the attention he’s been getting over the past week. Some say, ‘Congress thought that secular allies would tone down the Hindutva quotient of Modi’s 3.0 government, but Pawan Kalyan came out of the syllabus.’ Only time will tell how effective he can be in national-level politics.
