Pawan Kalyan’s Katamarayudu is all set to release worldwide in theaters tomorrow. Shows are set to start as early as 12 AM midnight in both Andhra and Ceeded. Permission for early morning shows are not yet granted in Telangana.
Expectations from the film are huge in exhibitors and distributors as a biggie is releasing after a long time say after 2 months and moreover the film being a remake of a film which was a success. Theatrical rights of the film are sold for a huge 82 cr and still there are some additional costs like P & A which puts it over 85 cr.
Area wise pre-Release Business
Teaser promo has created huge buzz for the movie though the trailer couldn’t up the ante. The released promos are more B & C friendly which helps the film to take a good opening there while Pawan kalyan factor should help the film to open well in A centres. The film has high chances to be a hit at the boxoffice as it has a 3 weeks free window till some films release and dent the collections. We expect that the film has potential to do 85 Cr distributor share worldwide.
The film is releasing in a huge 1400 Locations in domestic markets and 235 Locations in USA which is a record release.
Day 1 Expectations :
Nizam : Current record holder in this area is Baahubali with a distributor share of 6.28 Cr (1.80 Cr Hires & Special Early morning shows). Katamarayudu is expected to collect 5.5 – 6 Cr as special early amounts are less than baahubali and the permissions arent even confirmed yet. The film has ticket hike advantage over baahubali but special early morning show amounts might play the spoilsport to create an all time record here.
Ceeded : Current record holder in this area is baahubali with distributor share of 4.95 Cr while katamarayudu is expected to collecte over 4.5 Cr or even create an All Time Record.
Uttarandhra : Current record holder in this area is khaidi No 150 with a distributor share of 2.60 Cr. Though Katamarayudu may release in same number of screens as Khaidi No 150, hire amounts will give it an advantage to create an All Time Record. Kahidi No 150 had no hires.
Guntur : khaidi No 150 holds the current day1 record in this area with a distributor share of 2.79 Cr and katamarayudu is expected to collect in the same range or a bit high as single day hires might give it an edge.
East Godavari : Khaidi No 150 holds the current Day1 record in this area. That film had 1.90 Cr hires and the amounts for katamarayudu are almost same. So unless there is a big drop after the early occupancies the film has chances to create an all time record. The film is expected to collect above 3Cr.
West Godavari : The story is same as east godavari and the film is expected to collect over 2.8 Cr.
Krishna : All Time record for katamarayudu is almost confrimed in this area as the current record holder khaidi No 150 with a distributor share of 1.59 Cr had no early morning shows. Early morning shows seems to be granted for katamarayudu and is expected to collect over 1.8 Cr. The film can go over 1.50 Cr even without special early morning shows as hires are more for this film.
Nellore : The film has already created an All Time record here with hire amounts of 1.07 Cr. The film is expected to collect over 1.4 Cr distributor share here.
Overall in Andhra & Telangana states the film has high chances to create All Time 1st day Record beating Khaidi No 150 (23.28 Cr) distributor share. The film can also create a benchmark of 25 Cr distributor share on 1st day in Telugu states which hasn’t happened for any movie.
The film is releasing in a record 235 screens in USA and is expected to collect over 500 thousand dollars for premier shows. Big problem for the movie is that it is not a overseas friendly film and that was evident with the promos.
