Pawan Kalyan Press Meet on AP Special Status
Coming heavily against both BJP and TDP for their change of stand on Special Category Status of Andhra Pradesh, Jana Sena Party chief Pawan Kalyan today warned them that they cannot crush public angry with repression.
Coming before the media a day after skipping the silent protest in Visakhapatnam’s beach demanding special category status, he strongly condemned denial of permission for the protest. It may be recalled that he is being ridiculed in the social media for being busy in film shooting. Controversial film-maker Ram Gopal Varma tweeted stating “a true warrior instead of with a phone from a safe distance will be with a sword in the middle of the field.”
Accusing that Chandrababu Naidu government seems to be fearing to raise its voice against the Central government, the actor-turned-politician alleged that it seems it was not TDP, but `mini-BJP’ government ruling the state. In 2014, he said that he had supported Chandrababu Naidu to return to power believing he is having amazing administrative experience.
Dismissing that several BJP and TDP leaders are now questioning his `political experience’ for raising issues, Pawan Kalyan wondered why they didn’t raised this question when he extended support to them in 2014.
Raising the issue of North-South divide, he warned that the South India will rebel against the North-centric elite leadership of the BJP. According to him, the high volatile Jallikattu protests in Tamil Nadu were reaction of Narendra Modi’s attempt to take control of the state politics following the sudden demise of Jayalalithaa.
Strongly objecting Union Minister Venkaiah Naidu’s assertion that `Special Category Status’ was a `closed chapter’, Pawan Kalyan advised him to focus more on the people of the state rather than on Swarna Bharathi Trust, which his daughter runs. He felt had Venkaiah Naidu shows a part of interest now showing for the trust, Special Category might be realised by now.
Referring to severe corrupt allegations against TDP MPs Sujana Chaudhary (union minister) and Rayapati Sambasiva Rao, he demanded the government to constitute an expert committee to probe into those charges.
