Jana Sena chief Pawan Kalyan is dilly dallying on forging alliance with the Telugu Desam Party in the 2024 general elections. He had already given a call to all the non-YSR Congress parties in the state to ensure that the anti-incumbency vote did not split.
Pawan Kalyan declared that he would work to unseat the YSR Congress in the next elections. He is said to be lobbying with the BJP leadership to accept the alliance with the TDP. However, it is said that the BJP top leadership is averse to having alliance once again with the TDP and they call Chandrababu Naidu as the most-undependable ally.
While Pawan Kalyan looks around for a fresh tie-up with the TDP, some of the Kapu intellectuals have reportedly told him to stay away from the TDP. They have also advised him to stay only with the BJP and aim to form the government in Andhra Pradesh in the 2029 general elections. In fact, the BJP is also working with an eye on the 2029 elections, though the party would go tough in the 2024 elections.
Sources say that Pawan Kalyan was invited for a meeting of the Kapu intellectuals in the last week of March this year, where they have reportedly told him to stay away from the TDP. They have also advised him to wait for the TDP to wash out in the State politics after the 2024 elections. The BJP and the Jana Sena would have a future in Andhra Pradesh only if the TDP is closed, the Kapu intellectuals told Pawan Kalyan.
They have also advised him to be a fulltime politician from 2027 and should not act in the films once the campaign begins. “We have missed the bus in 2009. We should not miss it in any case in the 2029 elections,” the Kapu intellectuals have told the Jana Sena chief in a firm tone.
But, some of them have felt that banking on Pawan Kalyan will not give them any future as he keeps on changing his stand. Moreover, some of the Kapu intellectuals, who have served as IAS and also as vice-chancellors of universities in the past, felt that going with Pawan Kalyan will not help them as people are not taking him seriously. They felt that they should find a right person who is serious in politics and who is committed to the caste.
It is to be seen how the Kapu intellectuals play their role in the days to come and if they could guide the Jana Sena chief to wrest power from the dominant Kamma and Reddy communities in the state.
