Ahead of his son Kasu Mahesh Reddy joining YSR Congress Party this evening in Narasaraopet of Guntur district, the Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) has resorted to `disciplinary action’ against former minister Kasu Venkata Krishna Reddy. Accusing him of failing in preventing party cadre from his area migrating to YSRCP, the APCC President N Raghuveera Reddy has removed him as Chairman of PCC Disciplinary Committee. He was replaced by former union minister J D Seelam.
Though speculations are going around Mahesh Reddy’s decision to join YSRCP since few months, Krishna Reddy has been asserting that he would continue in Congress. Political successor of former Chief Minister Kasu Brahmananada Reddy, Krishna Reddy was two time MP from Narasaraopet, besides three-time MLA. He was minister in the cabinets of T Anjaiah, YS Rajasekhar Reddy and N Kirankumar Reddy.
Though he is close associate of Rajasekhara Reddy, Krishna Reddy had earlier rejected all lucrative offers from the opposition. Even N T Rama Rao also urged her mother to `donate your son’ for his newly started Telugu Desam Party. Refusing his invitation when she said Congress is their family name, Rama Rao replied satirically “I am also a Congressmen. But that Congress is no more”.
Besides his close association, surprising every body and ignoring district MLAs pleas Rajasekhara Reddy kept him out of his cabinet for most of the period. However, he maintained restraint and kept away from provocation of revolting against his `friend’. Jaganmohan Reddy immediately after forming his party invited Mahesh Reddy into his party. But as at that time his father was a minister, he remained in Congress.
