Digressing has become a norm for leaders in Andhra Pradesh. Any situation be it an accident or an inaugural, the only way followed by the politicians is a blame game. It is very difficult to expect an all-party meet in the state without any drama. Just because someone can quote scriptures to support their argument doesn’t mean their argument is virtuous.
The newly inaugurated assembly which is supposed to be a place for solving people’s issue is in news for all wrong things. This historic event got attention for all the bad things, especially with the opposition leader’s absence and trying to hurt the regional sentiments of Telangana people.
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu raised the issue of bifurcation of the state at the inauguration of the Assembly. Reminiscing the bifurcation, he said it was very disappointing and he was anguished. He even said that he never felt that bad ever in his life. To keep your balance, one must keep moving.
Why can’t the chief minister move on and speak about more important issues like unemployment, farmers issues? Telangana offered support for Special category status fight. The Centre is hardly concerned about this issue, which is a life and death for the State. Is there any other state that is ready to support another state for SCS?
The government’s seems to have gone haywire. Two days after a bus owned by Diwakar Travels fell into a canal in Andhra’s Krishna district, the ruling party ministers were watching the video of Jagan belittling the officer instead of the trying to investigate the issue that killed 11 people and injured over 30. The leaders were more concerned about the gory details. Naidu in his speech took a jibe at the YSRCP leader but did not comment on the investigation and the people behind this, obviously trying to save the face of TDP MP JC Diwakar Reddy.
It is of no use looking up to YSRCP to work as an opposition party because of its attention seeking acts. In admissibly, YSRCP’s conduct has been a sorry state of affair. It hardly raises any issues concerning people. If there is someone who can save the grace of AP leaders are the MLC leaders from Progressive Democratic Front (PDF)
There were times when the legislative council was given more importance than the assembly itself. This is one of the reasons why NTR removed council for some time. If PDF wins, the genuine issues will be debated in the council paving way for the real politics.
Even the voters want to elect people who will raise their issues and have long-term strategies in place. The members of PDF are teachers, employees, one of them being doctors who are accessible to the people. These leaders did not face any accusations in their previous term and have a goodwill with people. This is one of the reasons for TDP leaders’ reluctance to contest against them. PDF decided to fight against BJP and TDP. They sought backing from YSRCP and it is likely that LokSatta and CPI will extend their support.
YSRCP officially announced to extend support to the candidatures of Srinivas Reddy (Rayalaseema East Graduate Constituency), Balasubramanyam (Rayalaseema East Teachers Constituency) and Ajay Sarma (North Andhra Graduate Constituency) of the Progressive Democratic Front (PDF).
Atleast to be answerable to the elite few the CM, ministers and bureaucrats will focus on an actual issues instead of going off at a tangent.
