Elections in India always bring cheer to masses as political parties spending crores of money to get votes. Depending upon constituency, this money is ranging from a few hundreds to thousands of rupees. In AP, it seems both the leading parties are hell bent on defeating Pawan in at least one of these constituencies.
As per the unofficial reports coming from various quarters, political parties are spending a bomb in Bhimavaram and Gajuwaka constituencies, where Pawan Kalyan is contesting. As per those reports, both the leading parties are giving a few thousands of rupees at Bhimavaram. Distribution of money is starting at 4 am in the morning here and political party agents have done their homework properly and are coming with the list of voters to each family and distributing money as per the list. Sitting MLA Pulaparthi Ramanjaneyulu is from TDP and Grandhi Srinivas is contesting from YSRCP against Janasena chief Pawan Kalyan. There are reports coming from the ground that Jagan has assured ministry to Grandhi Srinivas IF he defeats Pawan AND their party comes into power. As per the same reports, main contest here is between Pawan and Grandhi Srinivas, though sitting MLA has strong support from some sections like BCs and Kshatriyas.
However, at Gajuwaka, the situation is different as TDP candidate here is not spending much but YSRCP leader is spending a bomb in the constituency. Palla Srinivas from TDP is sitting MLA here and Tippala Nagireddy is contesting from YSRCP. In 2009, he contested as independent and stood at second place surpassing Congress and Third front’s (TDP supported) candidates. In 2014, he got 40% vote bank but lost it to TDP leader Palla Srinivasa Rao. So he is doing very aggressive campaigning here this time as Pawan Kalyan is contesting and people of Gajuwaka are saying, nobody has ever spent this big money in this constituency. However, fishermen community is still against Nagireddy and the reason is, as per rumors, he cheated many people of that community by taking money from them assuring jobs when Gangavaram port started.
Anyway, the discussion among youngsters in these constituencies is that, politicians are distributing more money this time because of Pawan factor. People from neighbouring constituencies are saying they are not getting as much money as voters of these constituencies are getting. Also, in case Pawan wins in both the constituencies, there will be by-election again in 6 months and parties may have to distribute money again.
Hail democracy, Hail India !!
