Prime Minister Modi on Thursday laid the of foundation stone for the new capital city of Amaravati, participating in Purnahuti, Ratnanyasam, Silanyasam along with chief minister Chandrababu Naidu, union minister Venkaiah Naidu and Telangana chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao. The ceremony took place at about 12.40 afternoon. Later on, the PM unveiled the plaque of the foundation laying ceremony at the venue.
Earlier, Prime Minister Modi, immediately upon arrival at the venue of foundation stone, went round the Amavarati pavilion. The PM was accompanied by chief minister Naidu, Telangana chief minister K Chadrasekhar Rao, union minister Venkaiah Naidu, union labor minister Bandaru Dattatreya, governor of Telugu state ESL Narasimhan, Tamilandu governor K Rosaiah, union commerce minister Nirmala sitaraman and others. The pavilion was set up to demonstrate the history of Amaravati through the ages till now.Later PM entered the Yagna vatika with priests chanting Vedic hymns.The PM arrived at Gannavaram airport at about 12 noon in Indian Air force special flight. He reached the venue at Amaravati by a special helicopter.
